The 2008 Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen Pageant completed it's preliminary competition on Thursday night. THURSDAY night... that's a joke that you'll understand if you were in attendance or else you have to buy a DVD to get it. Once again we have three winners to tell you about.

New South's Outstanding Teen, Morgan Lindsey Burnett, was presented a second bouquet of roses by Miss Mississippi 2007, Kimberly Morgan for her scores in the Talent category. The talent category was as entertaining as ever and was surely a tight competition. Burnett performed a jazz routine to Patti LaBelle's "New Attitude" that was nearly flawless. This accomplishment has put Miss Burnett in the same position Jasmine Murray was in at the end of last year's preliminaries, which has got to be a huge boost to Miss Burnett.

Once again the contestants in Group B made the judges' lives more difficult evidenced by a tie for the highest scores in the Lifestyle & Fitness in Sportswear category. Metro Jackson's Outstanding Teen, Megan McBeth and Meridian's Outstanding Teen, Haley Sowers both recieved roses and will share the joy of winning their competition.

Now that the preliminaries are over and the scores are being tabulated comes the time when all the contestants get nervous. Each one hopes to hear her name called at the beginning of the final night. The top ten (or eleven - if last year is any comparison) scoring contestants will be competing for the title of Miss Mississippi's Outstanding Teen. I encourage all of you to come out to see the spectacle and show your su..ort of the Miss Mississippi Corporation's efforts. Tickets are available from the Miss Mississippi Corporation by calling their office at 601-638-6746 or by faxing the order form> to 601-638-8020. Competition continues this evening at 8 PM
